BEST KEPT SECRET ON THE MAINLAND

For a long time I’ve taken pride in the fact that not a lot of people know about the Orchid Bistro. There’s no sign board outside so its very easy to miss.  Like the name “bistro” suggests, it is a small restaurant and the setting is quite modest.If you are are looking for good food on the mainland i recommend you try Orchid Bistro.

I went there with my friend Biodun  for dinner and the place was packed with people, first time i have ever seen it so busy. Well that might be due to the fact that it was a Sunday evening or maybe the orchid bistro is no longer a secret (no surprise to me).

We dove right into ordering the main course. Biodun ordered their Rib Eye Steak with sauteed potatoes and seasoned vegetables and i ordered Chicken stir fry with braised rice and seasoned vegetables. The preparation time for the food felt like it took longer than necessary so at some point Biodun had the bright idea to order a starter but that didn’t happen as the options on the menu were limited.

Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you. -The Message Translation Revelation 3:20

VERDICT:

Rib Eye Steak, Potatoes and Vegetables – ₦9,500

Braised Rice,Chicken Stir Fry and Vegetables – ₦6,000

Rum Punch – ₦2,000

Apple Crumble and Ice Cream – ₦2,000

Good food, waiters were polite and helpful.As for quantity, I’ve had better.

I ordered a mojito but they didn’t have mint leaves so i had to settle for Rum Punch which was absolutely delicious so i forgot about their shortcoming.

They also didnt have chocolate brownies for desert.

This is what Biodun had to say;

The crust of the apple crumble was not crisp and as such did not provide a good enough contrast to the apple filling.Otherwise, the filling was sweet and warm and was well complemented by the cool ice-cream.

Good ambiance but  the siting arrangement, not so great. It was not spacious enough making it uncomfortable to have a discussion freely as your fellow dining neighbor may just be getting the full gist of your conversation.

LOCATION: 58 Isaac John St,  GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.

  1. Mmmmm!!!….I had a date there one time..yeah! Thanks to kido!lol…and I kinda liked the ambience very quiet ,it’s the kinda place to have a heart-to-heart talk with you partner,the food was nice, I had ice cream for dessert…another thing I like is its location more like “hidden in plain sight” *wink*…
    I’d recommend the place to couples who want that intimate atmosphere with less distraction….thumba up*
